Welcome to UW-Madison SIFE

SIFE is a global service-learning organization dedicated to teaching the benefits of the free market system through the design and implementation of projects in six categories:

  • Market Economics
  • Success Skills
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Financial Literacy
  • Business Ethics
  • Environmental Sustainability
At the end of the year, hundreds of SIFE teams compete at regional, national, and worldwide competitions. The competition is based on the impact and reach of our projects.

For the past four years, UW-Madison’s SIFE team has won its regional competition and advanced to the national competition. In 2008, our SIFE team was recognized as one of the top 40 organizations in the country. Our projects have included creating a business manual for a destitute area in Nicaragua, translating it into Spanish, and sending it to teachers in Nicaragua who used the material to teach poverty-stricken residents. We have held ethics seminars, created a new logo and website for the division of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services, and hosted a first-time homebuyer's seminar. See the "Projects" section to check out the projects we're working on this year.
